Thanks to attending events like Fire Ceremonies in the middle of old Oak Forests I was able to craft this balm over the last two years!

Imagine yourself sitting next to a fire, at the end of the day, maybe drumming or maybe meditating... and suddenly all the midges are on top of you as if they did not eat for a year!

That was my experience since the summer of 2021. I met many people who made their own water solution with Citronella. So I first crafted my own with Alcohol and water, but I had to reapply every time that it dried out! The focus on meditating gets interrupted by the need to grab the spray to save myself from the constant bites.

The summer of 2023, using the idea of my Tallow based Calendula Balm, I adapted a formula that would contain a way to maintain the citronella essential oil further into the skin (thanks to Dexter Tallow) while protected longer with the Beeswax.

Fun note: Tallow Balm might attract midges, but if mixed with the adequate essential oils, it repels them. I would say that it confuses them! So I would see them now fly around me (uh, it smells like cow fat!) but unable to land on my face that smells like flowers they detest.

I added local Pine Oil infusion to ward off further against mosquitoes and similar bugs that grab onto our skin like the plague. The result is a balm that creates a layer of protection that does not allow these creatures to land on us.

Use it by covering the endangered areas of your body with this gentle but effective balm. And I advice to wash it off before you go to sleep - unless you are camping.
