This special Balm has become "La Curandera". Essential at Home, Calendula & Plantago work their magic to cool down and soothe many skin irritations.
I love making soap but in my early days of working in the kitchen I'd burn myself in the process - or get sunburned while foraging.
I needed a balm knowing that it would keep me safe, to soothe those lye burns. I would make it adapted for me and the many possible situations, instead of getting something that would feel off and short! Sorry, Bepanthen and Bio'Oil, you guys are out of my life now!
Foraged plantain (Plantago lanceolata) paired with calendula (Calendula officinalis) brings its powerful medicinal plant properties alive which alleviates so many skin problems.
I could tell you a couple of times in which having cut myself with foraging, I grabbed a clean leaf of plantain and chewed it before applying as a plaster on my finger. My partner would look at my like a wild person, until he´d see that after 30min the cut was cleaner and the bleeding stopped. I love having plantain around and I know it is a great partner to Calendula in aiming troubled, and even bleeding skin that needs a break to stop itching.
Sometimes I think their synergy should be more usual as a great Skin Repair solution! Calendula by itself keeps being great for Skin problems, and I feel that Plantain has an unknown potential to bring forth and really aid our overall skin health (for me, it even looks like muscle tissue!).
And now, with the assistance of Tallow, I know that you can get those nutrients way deeper into your skin at the same time that you get extra vitamins and nutrients that only grass-fed animal fat can provide.
Use this balm to soothe nappy rash, repair dry skin, tackle chapped lips or soothe sun-damaged skin. Even those tiny cuts and wounds will get a relief.
This balm has become a first aid for me specially for winter times to use on my dry lips, or at times during summer times to have as a soothing balm against Nettle rush or similar.
I can´t wait for you to discover the beauty and power of these local Irish plants.
