We call this balm La Curandera, meaning “the healing woman.” It was created from Maria’s love of traditional herbal preparations and the familiar plants that grow around us.
Calendula flowers and locally foraged ribwort plantain—Plantago lanceolata—are slowly infused into sunflower seed oil. Once the infusion is ready, the plant material is carefully filtered away, leaving the oil carrying the character of the herbs.
We blend this golden infusion with grass-fed beef tallow and beeswax to create a rich, concentrated balm. Tallow and sunflower oil help soften and condition the skin, while beeswax forms a light protective layer that helps retain moisture.
Maria first made this balm because working with her hands—making soap, gardening and foraging—often left her skin feeling dry, rough and exposed. She wanted something simple that could be kept close at hand and applied wherever the skin needed a little extra care.
Use it on dry hands, rough elbows, cuticles or other areas affected by cold weather, wind or frequent washing. Because the formula contains no water, only a small amount is needed.
Calendula and plantain have long been valued in European herbal traditions. This balm continues that relationship in a simple everyday cosmetic: familiar plants, slowly infused and combined with nourishing fats and waxes.
Handmade in small batches in Westport, Co. Mayo.
Scent: No added fragrance or essential oils
Sizes: 60g and 200g

Customer Reviews
I was in with Colin on the 07/05 and he recommended the calendula balm as I suffer badly from dermatitis and eczema on my hands. He let me sample the balm first and immediate relief! I bought it to try and applied every night since for the last week and it has been the only thing that helped with it, (cycled through every steroid cream and over the counter creams to no help) no irritation no broken skin! So happy with this product! Will be buying again :)
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that it worked for you. Thank you for sharing your experience so others can find help. :)
Healed a sore that had been open for a few months and nothing else had worked on.
Some relief from midget bites
Used only once.
Those midge bites can be a real pain. It's also useful for rashes, burns, and as a lip balm. Hope you got some use out of it, Gerry! Thanks for trying it.
Love this moisturiser. It is very gentle on the skin and no perfume.
Would recommend it.
Love the texture of the tallow and the way my skin feelsbeautifully soft . Stays feeling that way all day.
